About Sarangpur Mandir
The Shree Kashtabhanjan Dev Hanumanji Temple, Sarangpur is a Hindu temple located in Sarangpur, Gujarat and is part of the Vadtal Gadi of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya. This temple is among the most prominent sites of worship for Hanuman devotees, honoring him in the powerful form of Kashtabhanjan Dev, meaning the "Crusher of Sorrows"
Miraculous Idol Installation
Gopalanand Swami, a revered paramhansa of the Swaminarayan sect, installed the idol of Shree Kashtabhanjandev. A mystical event unfolded as Gopalanand Swami touched the murti with a rod, causing it to come alive and move. This miraculous incident established a healing ritual tradition at the temple.
Sacred Depictions
The shrine features an idol of Hanuman, characterized by a sturdy figure donning a handlebar mustache. The depiction includes Shani Dev in a feminine manifestation under Hanuman's foot, displaying a fierce stance with bared teeth amidst lush foliage adorned with monkey attendants bearing fruits.
Renovations and Legacy
Over the years, the temple underwent numerous renovations under the stewardship of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya. In 1899, Kothari Gordhandas appointed Shastriji Maharaj, to oversee the temple's affairs. His transformative leadership led to the renovation of the temple, expansion of the complex, and acquisition of additional land, shaping its current form.
